Justin Whitelock/
Founder
Justin Whitelock has 20+ years of specialist mortgage experience, focused on expats, foreign nationals, and high-net-worth clients whose circumstances do not fit standard high-street criteria. His work spans residential mortgages, buy-to-let (including limited-company and portfolio structures), bridging finance, and development and commercial property finance for international clients. Justin operates as an FCA-authorised mortgage adviser through City Finance Brokers Limited (FCA No. 766295).
Why Mortgage London exists.
Having lived and worked abroad for more than 15 years—first in Copenhagen, then Spain, and later Portugal—Justin gained extensive experience helping international buyers navigate cross-border property finance. As an expatriate himself, he also encountered the challenges of securing a UK mortgage while living overseas, giving him a firsthand understanding of the complexities faced by British nationals abroad.
Upon returning to London, Justin recognised a significant gap in the market: specialist mortgage advice for expatriates was both in high demand and difficult to access. To address this need, he founded Mortgage London.
The firm’s philosophy is straightforward. When clients have a strong financial profile, sufficient assets, and a well-defined UK property strategy, there is almost always a lender prepared to support their objectives. The key is identifying the right lender and presenting the application in a way that maximises the likelihood of success while securing the most competitive terms.
Today, Mortgage London continues to combine Justin’s personal experience as an expatriate with deep expertise in specialist lending, providing tailored mortgage solutions for clients navigating the UK property market from around the world.

Expert Insight
“The most common case: a client is declined by a high-street bank and assumes no UK mortgage is available. In reality, the right lender usually exists often a specialist, private bank, or international division. Finding them is the job.”

Are Mortgage London's services FCA-regulated?
Yes. Mortgage London is the trading style under which mortgage advice is delivered by City Finance Brokers Limited, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 766295). Justin Whitelock operates as an FCA-authorised mortgage adviser through that authorisation.
Who will I speak with when I contact Mortgage London?
You will speak with Justin Whitelock directly, from the first conversation through to completion. Mortgage London is built around direct access to the founder, so there is no handoff to junior advisers or case managers.
How does Justin decide which lender fits my case?
Every case is structured around four factors: the client's country of residence, income source and currency, property type and value, and any wider financial complexity (corporate structures, non-dom status, international tax). The combination of those four tells us which lenders are likely to say yes. The work is in matching the case to the right one first, rather than submitting speculatively to the wider market.
What does it cost to work with Mortgage London?
Initial consultations are complimentary and carry no obligation. If we agree to proceed, our fees are quoted in writing up front, with a clear breakdown of what is payable and when. We do not charge retainers, and we do not take payment before a mortgage offer is in hand.
Can Mortgage London work with me if I live overseas?
Yes. The firm was built specifically for clients based overseas. Consultations are scheduled around your time zone, and the entire process (identification, documentation, application, valuation, and completion) is handled remotely. Clients in Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States, Switzerland, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and 15 other countries use the service regularly.
